Undergraduate Architecture

건축학 전공은 종합예술인 건축물을 창조적인 아이디어로 구현하는 학문으로서 현재, 5년제 교육과정으로 운영하고 있다. 교과목은 전공교향, 디자인, 설계, 철학, 역사, 건축 전공, 실무 전공 등 다양한 과목들이 건축설계를 중심으로 구성되어 있으며, 사회에 대한 지식뿐만 아니라 공학기술을 이해하는 종합인으로서의 건축가를 양성하고자 한다.

Degree Program

한양대학교 (에리카) 건축학부의 학위과정은 국제적 수준의 전문 건축인 양성을 위한 프로그램으로, 5년의 수업 연한과 162학점의 취득이 요구되는 전문 건축학위과정이다. 취득 학위는 건축사학(Bachelor of Architecture)이며, 본 학부의 교과 프로그램 이수 후에는 1.5년 혹은 2년 연한의 건축석사(Master of Architecture I, II)과정이 개설된 대학원을 진학하여 수학을 계속할 수 있다. 대학원은 크게 설계전공, 역사이론비평전공으로 나뉘며 한양대학교 서울캠퍼스와 통합 운영된다.

Curriculum

본 건축학부는 2002년부터 국제적 인증 기준에 부합하는 5년제 건축학 교과과정을 제공하고 있다. 이 당시의 교과과정은 미국의 NCARB(National Council of Architecture Registration Boards)의 기준과 대한건축학회에서 2001년에 발표한 ‘건축학 교과과정 모형 연구’를 토대로 처음 만들어졌고, 2004년에 2005-2008 교과과정을 확정하여 매년 수정하면서 교육을 진행하고 있다. 2009년 최초 건축학교육 프로그램 인증을 획득한 이후 기존 프로그램의 단점을 보완, 수정하여 현재에 이르고 있다. 본 교과과정은 국제적인 수준에 맞춰 수립되어 있어서 5년 동안 이 교과과정을 이수하고 졸업한 모든 학생들이 세계 어느 곳에서든 능력 있는 건축가로서 건축 활동을 펼칠 수 있게 했다. 이를 위해 모든 교과과정의 초점을 설계 스튜디오에 맞추고, 5년 동안 설계와 연관된 기술, 도시, 실무 등 다양한 교육을 받도록 하고 있다.

Accreditation (KAAB)

한양대학교(에리카) 건축학교육 프로그램은 한국 건축학교육 인증으로부터 2012년 5년 인증을 받았다. 한국건축학교육인증원은 국제 건축학교육인증 협의체인 “캔버라어코드” (Canberra Accord) 회원 기관이며, “UNESCO-UIA” 로부터 건축학교육 인증사업 인정기관으로 지정되어 국내 학생들이 국제사회로 진출할 수 있는 기반을 확보하고 있다. 또한 “건축사법” 개정에 의해 향후 본원의 인증을 받은 프로그램 졸업자만이 건축사자격시험에 응시가 가능하고, “고등교육법” 에 의해 고등교육 학분분야 평가 · 인증사업 인정기관으로 지정 되는 등 국내 · 외로부터 공인된 국내 유일의 건축학교육 인증기관으로서의 역할을 다하고 있다.

한양대학교(에리카) 건축학교육 프로그램은 ‘세계화를 선도하는 창의적이고 통합지향적인 건축가의 양성’을 목표로 한다. 그리고 이런 목표를 실현하기 위해 졸업생들이 다음과 같은 네 가지 사항들을 성취하도록 교육 프로그램을 수립하였다.

1) 광범위한 건축관련 전문기술을 습득시키는 교육

2) 건축의 역사적, 사회-문화적, 환경적 맥락을 이해시키는 교육

3) 다양한 기술적 요건들을 통합하며 설계 능력을 배양하는 교육

ARD305History of Western Architecture Cr.3 (Lecture in English)

This course is to provide students with a basic knowledge of style, structure and materials as represented by architecture from antiquity to the seventeenth century.

ARD363Architectural PlanningCr.3 (Lecture in English)

This course aims to learn the way of architectural thinking and the knowledge of fundamental data and information for the architectural design. In other words, the lecture focuses on the basic thoughts abouth the characteristics, size, and composition of architectural space that accommodate human life. Also, the course discusses about the new spatial concepts responding the infromation age.

ARD456 History of Modern Architecture Cr.3 (Lecture in English)

The objective of this course is to evaluate the trends and philosophy of the art and architecture based on the social, cultural, economical, technological change and development and analyze the architectural works emerged from the various architectural philosophy and trends from the Industrial Revolution to the present time and explore the architect’s intension and the social background. After the architectural work’s trend of ancient, medieval age, modern period, this architectural history class covers the architectural activity from the Industrial Revolution to present time considering how this course can relate to the architectural design.

ARE320 Sustainable Architecture Cr.3

An exploration of the fundamental principles of human physiology, thermal and luminous comfort, and indoor quality. Emphasis is on bioclimatic and psychometric climate analysis and its relationship to architectural design, understanding the energy exchange between body in space, the natural meaning of enclosures, and non-structural materials and systems. The focus is on passive heating, cooling, and day lighting systems and their design.

ARE432 Architecture and Society Cr.3

The role of architecture as a container of human and social activities, requires the understanding of an individual as well as social behavior, worth, custom and their relationship with the environment. The relationship between physical environment and the human behavior and the psychological and biological theory and methodology will be discussed. The analysis of clients’ requirements, design decision making, human activities and their relationship with the architectural form will be carried out in connection with their influence on architectural planning and application. The basic programming technique, analysis of space, activities through case projects and methods, will be studied.

URE301 Site Planning Cr.3

This course aims to develop thinking abilities necessary to the use of the goal of housing development planning and the performance of the feasible environment planning.

It includes the method of housing development planning, the analysis of user behavior, and the relationship among the composing elements in housing development.

Design - Communication Skills

HEC307 Presentation Technique Cr.3

The course aims to introduce and train students with the variety of architectural representation techniques on the base of the basic and fundamental knowledge of the role of architecture in society; including the process of architectural planning, construction, structure, spatial experience of buildings, symbolic meanings of architecture.

ARE373 Digital Architectural Design Theory Cr.3

This course addresses the use of the computer in architectural design and visualization. Introductions to three classes of software: page layout, image manipulation, and solid modeling, provide the foundation for design exercises. A lecture coupled with lab sections provides hands-on instruction. The first four weeks of the course cover a general introduction to computing environments and fulfills the University Computing Skills Workshop requirement.

ARE102 Architectural Drawing Cr.4

This course aims to teach students the most basic skills of architectural design. It provides the knowledge such as the methods of the fundamental graphic presentation, the use of drafting tools, and the theory of architectural drafting, etc. And then, architectural drawing skills will be taught in order to strengthen the practical knowledge in architectural design. Also, this course is intended for students to develop their precise and three dimensional imaginations.
